IBPS conducts examination for recruiting the candidates for Clerical, Probationary Officers and Specialist Officers posts every year for 19 participating nationalized banks excluding State Bank of India and its associate banks.
This examination is conducted in two phases namely Tier I and Tier II examination followed by personal interview. The common written examinations are conducted through online mode through various centers across the country. Only those candidates are allowed to appear in Mains Written examination, who crack the Preliminary Written Examination.
IBPS follows Linear Conversion Method to allot minimum qualifying marks to the aspirants. Candidates need to maintain a balance between all the sections of the paper while preparing for the same. The agency also conducts a descriptive type written examination, which the candidates have to undertake after Mains Written Examination. The sheets of descriptive examination are checked only of those candidates, who score minimum marks in the objective type examination.
Candidates need to keep all the other subjects aside apart from reasoning and quantitative aptitude. They should try to score more and more marks in these two sections and practice these two more and more as well. Both these sections are very tricky and time consuming but once the candidates learn the shortcuts and tricks to solve the questions, they can score good marks in these easily. They should practice the basics and logic behind the questions rather than crumbing the shortcuts blindly. Without learning the basics and logic they can lose marks and also will not be able to attempt the question even if small changes are made in the pattern of the questions.
Further, in the remaining time candidates need to practice the remaining three sections. To score good marks in English section they should try to improve their grammar as most of the questions are based on these. For other two sections reading daily even for half an hour is enough.
At the time of appearing in the examination, this is essential for the candidates to manage time. They should not devote too much time to a single questions as they will not be able to devote time to other questions this way. They need to be confident and should have faith in their study, while taking the test. They should always remember that they have to nothing to lose and should give their 100% while taking the examination.
