RRB JE Job Profile Responsibilities and Duties
The job of the JE depends totally on the specilization for which the candidates are recruited. Juniors Engineers can be recruited under following specializations:
- Civil Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Electronics and Communication Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
The position of JE can be discussed under two heads JE (Works) and JE (Permanent Way).
RRB JE (Works) in Civil Engineering
Under this job-position, the employees are given jurisdiction of around 50-60 kms of railway track and you have to be concerned with the the Maintenance and Repairs of Quarters, Asset Creation, such as Small Quarter Construction, Platform Extension Work, and Platform Shed Construction/ Repairs, Painting, etc.
These are several tasks, but usually a team of several Junior Engineers work on these projects collectively.
RRB JE (Permanent Way) in Civil Engineering
This post is of the entry level technical personnel, if we talk about hierarchy but in the Permanent Manner.
These employees are given around 50-60 kilometers of Railway Track and you have to ensure the maintenance of the best quality of these tracks for the safe and smooth movements of trains. No deteoriation in the quality of these tracks is tolerated. The profile requires skills and understanding of the task, to execute them in the best manner.

RRB JE Salary
- Basic (Fixed): Rs. 9300/-
- Grade Pay: Rs. 4200/-
Total salary amounts to around Rs. 28,000 per month with other benefits and quarter
RRB SSE Salary
- Basic (Fixed): Rs. 9300/-
- Grade Pay: Rs. 4600/-
Total Salary amounts to around Rs. 30,000 per month + quarter and benefits
